Abstract

Deep Brain Stimulation of the Subcallosal Cingulate (SCC-DBS) is a promising therapy for Treatment-Resistant Depression. In most studies, antidepressant effects were evidenced in clinical endpoints around 6 months. Intraoperative stimulation (IOS) effects have been reported, as well as rapid relief of depression in the days after the surgery. Understanding of the contributing factors to this rapid effect is essential to the future design and implementation of standardized surgical protocols.
