Abstract

High density Ba0.80Pb0.20TiO3 (BPT) ceramics were successfully prepared by using the microwave sintering technique, which helps in reduction of time and energy consumption that is quite large in normal conventional technique. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) study showed the single-phase formation with tetragonal structure. Dielectric study demonstrated sharp peak in dielectric versus temperature plots and high value of the Tc as compared to that observed for samples prepared by conventional technique. The microwave sintering technique rendered drastic improvement in piezoelectric properties. The piezoelectric charge coefficient ‘d33’ was obtained to be 157pC/N as compared to 130pC/N in case of conventionally sintered sample respectively.
