Abstract

AbstractA stepped impedance resonator (SIR) low‐pass filter using defect ground structure (DGS), which has high isolation and compact size, is proposed. The proposed defect ground structure (DGS) provides excellent cutoff and stopband characteristics for improving the stopband rejection and the attenuation rate of the bandpass edge. In order to illustrate the improved performance, we compare the conventional low‐pass filter and the proposed novel low‐pass filter with DGS. The measurement results of the fabricated low‐pass filter show excellent agreement with the theoretical results. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
