Abstract

In this paper, a new operator (d) which combines the two commonly used operators, the shift (q) and delta (/spl delta/) operators, is proposed. The numerical characteristics of the realization using the d-operator are analyzed. It is shown that for any given constraint on state space realization dynamic range, the optimized d-realization has lower sensitivity than that of the optimized q and /spl delta/-realizations. It is also shown that a sub-optimal d-realization can always be found to guarantee a round-off noise gain upper bound lower than that of the optimized /spl delta/-realization and the minimized round-off noise gain of the q-realization.
