Abstract

Preparation processes for lithium metasilicate and lithium orthosilicate are described. These processes could be applied for industrial production. The new preparation methods are based on the idea of preparing compounds in an aqueous solution which are very close to the products to be synthesized. The powders are prepared by spray-drying. From these powders, pellets or spheres can be produced. The main advantage of the process described in this paper consists in avoiding any milling steps as described for the standard procedures. Thus an inherent source of chemical impurity has been excluded.
