Abstract

In this work, gold (Au) nano-particles (NPs) influenced enhanced electroactive phase nucleation in electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) nano-fibers (NFs) has been investigated. The prepared electrospun Au-PVDF composite (ESAu-PVDF) NFs possess higher content of electroactive phases (FEA∼ 92 %) than that of pure PVDF (ESNPVDF) NFs. As a result, the prepared nanogenerator (NG) with ESAu-PVDF NFs (AuPVNG) demonstrates better output performance (such as, open-circuit voltage, Voc∼ 2.8 V and short-circuit current, Isc∼ 18 nA) than that of NG made with ESNPVDF (NPVNG) under 20 kPa pressure. The scalability and simplicity of this work with enhanced electricity generation could pave the way in quest of lead free self-powered flexible electronics.
