Abstract

From 1980s several randomized trials have shown that breast-conserving surgery followed by radiotherapy (breast-conserving therapy [BCT]), is as effective as mastectomy for the treatment of breast cancer in the aspect of survival. However, higher local recurrence rate in BCT group was consistently reported in long-term results. This study comprehensively reviewed the clinical data and treatment outcomes of early breast cancer of one institution.
