Abstract

Integration of the doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) changes the existing low frequency oscillation (LFO) modes of power systems and introduces the LFO modes, which may be damped by the power system stabilizer (PSS) installed at the synchronous generators, or recently at the DFIGs. In this article, the state space equations including the transfer function of the DFIG-PSS are derived, based on which, the analytical expression of the functional eigen-sensitivity model is proposed. To improve the accuracy of the existing functional eigen-sensitivity, the eigenvalue increment is introduced to the iterative calculation of the transfer function increment. The optimization model of the DFIG-PSS parameters is formulated based on the functional eigen-sensitivity, which is solved by the interior point method. Finally, the damping effect of the DFIG-PSS on the critical modes is provided to validate the accuracy of the functional eigen-sensitivity model.
