Abstract

This paper presents the design of a high-performance second-order controller for voltage control of a single- and three-phase islanded microgrid under different loads and fault conditions. The microgrid consists of several distributed generation units and local loads. The load is parametrically unknown and uncertain that produces the variable nature of microgrid performance. The controller is designed to achieve robust performance in the presence of unmodeled loads, dynamic loads, harmonic loads, balanced, and unbalanced loads. The design of the controller is presented using the results of robust negative imaginary approach. The performance evaluation of the controller shows that the proposed controller provides extensive control of voltage and current against a set of uncertainties and loads.
