Abstract

A method is being developed for calculating the settlement of a single two-bladed helical pile in clay. It is proposed to use the results of laboratory direct shear tests to determine the pile settlement, caused by shear deformation around the pile. The method takes into account the real behavior of the soil during shear deformation, which theoretically allows one to obtain a non-linear dependence of the pile settlement on the external applied load, observed in the experiments. This solution is based on the use of a patented design solution of a two-bladed helical pile. Using the example of comparison with the results for soils with semi-solid consistency, it is shown that the method allows increasing the reliability of settlement forecast in clay.
