Abstract

Summary Glomus constrictum Trappe, one of the commonly occurring VAM fungi of arid and semi-arid regions was multiplied on modified MS medium in association with Ziziphus mauritiana under in vitro conditions. The in vitro multiplied VAM strain established efficient symbiosis with in vitro raised plantlets of Z. mauritiana . This VAM strain significantly improved the biomass production, nutrient uptake and acclimatization of the in vitro produced plantlets of Z. mauritiana into the field. Details about the symbiosis are discussed.
