Abstract
Improved Ant Lion Optimization (IALO) is a proposed swarm-based algorithm based on the antlion's distinctive hunting behavior, that mimics the swarming behavior of the antlion. The proposed IALO technique is developed by modifying the standard antlion optimization algorithm (ALO) by using levy fight distribution. The operating cost for thermal units is an important aspect in power flow system problems. In this study standard IEEE-30 bus test system has been taken into consideration to validate the effectiveness of proposed technique. IALO shown an improvement in operating cost, active power loss, voltage profile as well as in the execution time in comparison to conventional algorithms which is novelty of this paper. Therefore, the proposed IALO approach is a viable optimization tool for solving OPF power system optimization problems.
