Abstract

Optimal placement of distributed generations considering various load models in the distribution grid play a crucial role in improving performance of the grid. This work proposes a unique multi variable objective index based on indices of real power loss, voltage deviation and total operating cost. This can be accomplished using improved ant colony optimization algorithm for planning and performance analysis of multiple distributed generations considering constant power, constant current and constant impedance load models. The proposed method has been demonstrated on two radial distribution systems. Simulated results are compared with the results of other researchers and it's found to be more superior in reduction of losses, voltage profile improvement and minimization of total operating cost.
