Abstract

In this paper we describe an integration of fuzzy sets and conceptual modeling. The conceptual model, entitled the ‘Extended Object Model’ (XOM) is presented with its defined schema. Imprecision is integrated into the XOM via basic data types as well as in their abstractions. The XOM model is then used in designing the conceptual schema of Knowledge Based Management Systems (KBMS). A KBMS Developing Environment (KBMSDE) is proposed on the basis of that schema. Ways of implementing imprecision in KBMSDE are then discussed.
