Abstract

Study Objectives: The Medway Towns are located in the North Kent region of the UK. The Medway Borough Council's Environmental Agency monitored the sustainable mosquito habitats that are located along the Medway River banks, inland marshes, woodlands, and landfills sites. The Island of Sheppey had the last reported case of Endogenous Malaria in 1959. Previous studies suggested UK mosquitoes were resistant to transmitting tropical plasmodium, but reports of endogenous mosquitoes in Europe and the United States transmitting imported infections have raised the possibility of malaria returning to the United Kingdom.
