Abstract
Hard photons were measured in coincidence with projectilelike fragments in peripheral reactions of Ar-36 + Tb-159 at E/A = 44 MeV. The probability for hard photon production was found to scale linearly with the transferred mass and to depend on the direction of the transfer, thus indicating the relative importance of one- and two-body dissipation in peripheral reactions.
