Abstract

This paper provides key findings of a study to establish the fact that food fortification is viable strategy to deal with the problem of Micronutrient deficiencies in India. The study involves collection of vital information from secondary sources, therefore research is mainly secondary in nature and the paper is describing the details and contents of what all the researches have performed on the subject, hence discusses the importance of food fortification in enhancing nutrition status in India especially in Madhya Pradesh. The study findings clearly revealed that food fortification significantly enhanced the nutrition status by reducing micronutrient deficiency which established the fact on its importance in India. However, research on food fortification is lacking in Madhya Pradesh, therefore further aspects to be exploredin terms of local context especially knowing the perspective of Government, Producers and Consumers to adopt food fortification strategy to address nutrition status in Madhya Pradesh.
