Abstract
The following document was submitted to CCITT Study Group VII by IFIP Working Group 6.1 at the end of 1978. CCITT Recommendation X.75 deals with the interconnection of public packet networks. The term DTE is used for customer equipment (hosts, terminals) using the public network. DCE's can be thought of as the source and destination network switching nodes. STE's are network interconnection nodes (sometimes called gateways).
