Abstract

We show that the report of Hooge and Vandamme on the 1/ f noise in semiconductors with impurity scattering contradicts the phenomenological description of Kleinpenning. Possible alternate decriptions are discussed, along with calculations of their measurable implications. Calculations of a new parameter, the coherence of Hall voltage fluctuations with resistance fluctuations are presented and it is shown that this parameter is sensitive to the form of description which the noise obeys.
