Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research note is to discuss issues related to the negative implications of the Covid-19 pandemic on the tourism sector in Poland. Especially, variables such as expenses of foreign tourists, percentage of accommodation base used as well as passenger air traffic in the first quarter of 2020 were analysed. In order to depict the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism sector in Poland, prognosis of time series in environment R (forecasting time series ARIMA) was used. On the basis of research conducted, it may be conclude that Covid-19 pandemic largely affected the central part of Poland, which is often treated as a transit zone for foreign tourism. Conducted prognoses indicate that both the percentage of accommodation base used and passenger air traffic in Poland will significantly drop in comparison to previous years
