Abstract

The California Psychological Inventory and a questionnaire were used to explore implications of changes in male-female role expectations for interpreting M-P scores. Eight SES variables were used in group frequency matching of 50 high with 50 low FE females and of 60 high with 60 low FE males derived from an initial population of 260 males and 257 females, ages 17-18. The low' FE females and the high FE males had higher (more favorable) scores than their respective counterpart groups on about two-thirds of the CPI Scales. Analysis of the items comprising the FE scale indicated a number of these items to be timeand social-class-bound.
