Abstract

t m t s n m n adherence to the American Dietetic Association’s (ADA) Strategic Plan goal of establishing and imlementing a standardized Nutrition are Process (NCP) in the hopes of increasing demand and utilization of ervices provided by members” (1), ditetics professionals in two health are facilities established an NCP piot program in 2005, in collaboration ith ADA. The pilot sites were the irginia Hospital Center in Arlington nd the Veterans Affairs Medical enter in San Diego, CA. This article gives a background on he NCP and Model, the standardized anguage used in the nutrition diagnois step, medical record documentation, nd an explanation of how the two sites ame to participate in the pilot proram. It also provides a timeline for ach site’s implementation of the NCP, ncluding challenges faced and lessons earned. Similarities and differences in pproaches will also be discussed. anagers from both facilities will offer dvice to facilities who are contemplatng implementation of the NCP and nurition diagnoses in the future.
