Abstract

The evaluation study includes the assessment of external evaluations which took place at nine schools in the spring of 2012. It draws on the data that were collected by means of document analysis and group interviews with the representatives of schools under evaluation as well as with external evaluators. The results indicate positive effects of external evaluations on school improvement. The article concludes with a discussion on findings, which are addressed from the perspective of the role that external evaluation plays, as well as from the perspective of introducing external school evaluation at the national level.
