Abstract

mass media has independence as people's sovereignty based on the principles of democracy, justice and the rule of law. The role of the media in daily life has a very important role namely a mirror of events in society and the world, implying a faithful reflection, social control tools, social change tools and community renewal. The aims is to know how reporters cover the cases of children dealing with the law. And to find out whether journalists in Kediri applied Pasal 5 of the Journalistic Code of Ethics (JCE) in covering cases of children in conflict with the law? The method used empirical or socio legal research to examine in depth how journalists should cover cases of children in conflict with the law. The results of the study show that journalists who are members of the Indonesian Journalists Association and the Indonesian Junalistik Alliance in Kediri have done coverage according to the Journalistic Code of Ethics, especially those relating to the questioning of children in conflict with the law. The journalists were formed to have adopted the basic rules of the Journalistic code of ethics.
