Abstract

Network function virtualization (NFV) is one of the promising technologies for the next-generation network. In the NFV environment, reliability and availability should be guaranteed at different levels through the use of monitoring frameworks; however, the current monitoring frameworks only focus on NFV infrastructure (NFVI)-related faults and not VM-related faults. In this paper, the current NFV monitoring status are reviewed, and a VNF (Virtual Network Function)/VNFC (VNF Component) monitoring mechanism is implemented. To implement monitoring driver, port-scan method integrate with OpenStack. The implementation can be used to check the VNF status as well as the VNFC status through the port-scanning process. To verify the performance of monitoring driver, we create VM (virtual machine) and check the performance result of monitoring driver.
