Abstract
AbstractA cylindrical concrete column with armature solely comprised of an arbitrarily placed, steel reinforcing bar, has been considered. The upright structure is investigated under plane wave excitation and a simplified solution is obtained based on the assumption that the size of the metallic rod is electrically small. Inversion of the derived expressions with respect to the characteristics of the bar, formulates a new nondestructive technique whose performance is satisfying. The prediction error of the proposed method is represented as function of the problem parameters in various graphs which are commented and discussed. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
