Abstract

Cooperative communication system is a communication system that uses relays to transmit data from source to destination. Received signal from the transmitter and the relay will undergo a process of combining at the receiver. The purpose of this cooperative system is replacing the multiple antenna technique to improve the quality and capacity of the system. The cooperative communication system implementation require three steps, they are communication system Single Input Single Output (SISO), multihop and cooperative (combination of SISO communication system and multihop communication system). This paper carried out the implementation of a communication system using the SISO and multihop relay demodulate and forward on the basketball court of Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS) campus. This research measure the performance of multihop communication system and SISO communication system, and compare them. Based on the results of research (simulation and implementation on WARP module), multihop communication system is better than SISO communication system by looking at BER value and received power.
