Abstract

Despite modern technological advances, image exchange between health care institutions often continues to require physical data transfer via compact discs and digital versatile discs. The use of compact discs and digital versatile discs is cumbersome, requiring dedicated personnel to obtain discs from outside institutions, upload images to the local PACS, and match examinations to the correct patient. Frequently, patients or family members also become responsible for acquiring and transporting discs.
