Abstract
Wi-Fi Backscatter communication is method for zero-energy wireless connectivity using the ambient RF signals without needing an additional wireless communication infrastructure. Because this communication method uses Wi-Fi signal, there is a limit that cannot transmit a backscatter data faster than Wi-Fi packet transmission rate in the time-domain. This paper presents multi-level modulated-backscatter communication system using ambient Wi-Fi signal. We propose a method to improve data rate of backscatter communication using Wi-Fi signal. We implement and test Wi-Fi backscatter communication system applying transmitting multi-level load modulate data. The backscatter data transmission is achieved at a data rate of 60 kbps by the proposed multi-level backscatter modulator using Wi-Fi signal.
