Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are an interesting topic in both scientific research and industrial application. In this paper we present an implementation of a WSN routing protocol, the LEACH routing protocol, using WiFi connectivity technology. In LEACH routing protocol, sensor nodes (SNs) are deployed in an area of interest and organize themselves into clusters. One node acts as a cluster head (CH) collecting the data from all the nodes in its cluster and transmitting them to the base station (BS). Details of the implemented protocol, including modifications caused by the choice of connectivity protocol, are presented. A proposed hardware solution is described, followed by a step by step explanation of the software.
