Abstract

‘Internet of Things’ is the major driving forces behind the Industrial 4.0 movement, which has enhanced automation and provides easy data collection and analysis. It also improves the workflow and process. IoT allow devices to communicate between them anywhere at same time. Because of the arrival of IoT, automation has been possible for larger extend and the word ‘smart’ has been given to devices which supports wireless protocols. The word ‘smart’ has also became a popular as well as an irreplaceable term and device are getting smarter with the help of this on-growing technology. In many ways IoT has improved and made our lives easier. One such product of IoT is the smart mirror which works as both mirror as well as a device. This paper describes design and construction of smart mirror and implementing home automation in smart mirror. Smart mirror is one of the applications of Raspberry Pi. A monitor is placed behind the two-way mirror and Raspberry Pi controls the data displayed on the mirror. While looking at the mirror, the user can look various information like time, weather report, current news etc. The user can control the mirror either by touch or voice assistant. The home appliance can either be controlled through mirror, mobile app or voice assistant. By mirroring concept, changes done in mobile app will be reflected to smart mirror and vice-versa.
