Abstract

Presently GPS L1 frequency band operated at 1575.42 MHz is used for navigation purpose of the civilian. New GPS signals L2C and L5 are introduced as modernization step over the existing conventional L1 signal. This new signal structure implies new receiver structure for acquisition, tracking and data demodulation. A software defined GPS receiver can be implemented for L5 band GPS signal. This paper gives the structure of modern L5 band GPS signal generation with acquisition and tracking schemes. Acquisition is done by using FFT algorithm for GPS L5 signal generation using BPSK modulation. The GPS L5 Signal is generated using Xilinx Block sets and the experimental results for the signal generation will be used for developing FPGA platform for the development of indigenous GPS L5 receiver.
