Abstract

Given the vulnerability of marine life today and the occurrence of natural disasters, vessel monitoring is crucial. Vessel monitoring is used to describe technologies in commercial fishing and cargo tracking to allow environmental and fisheries regulatory bodies to follow and monitor the activities. Keeping in mind the element of cargo delivery, fishing vessels, and even passenger vessels, a vessel monitoring system (VMS) is an essential communication component. Ship tracking is made quicker and simpler by Vessel Monitoring System, which also aids in preventing any crime at sea. These systems must be easily adaptable, with the shortest installation time possible, flexibility in terms of the number of configurable parameters, and the ability to link to peripheral devices. This paper aims to implement of global ship tracking and monitoring system based on IoT and image processing. This paper focuses on three crucial aspects: the first is to detect objects using ultrasonic sensors, the second is to identify and capture icebergs using image processing, and inform the captain using the mobile app and the last one is to identify hazardous situations and take immediate safety measures, such as opening the rescue boats in ships.
