Abstract

This paper presents the implementation of the brushless dc (BLDC) motor drive using a canonical switching cell (CSC) converter for power quality enhancement using fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The motor speed is maintained by controlling the dc link voltage of a voltage source inverter (VSI) using fuzzy logic controller, which enhances the power quality at ac mains compared to the conventional controller. The BLDC motor is commutated electronically, which offers reduced switching losses in the voltage source inverter due to the low operating switching frequency. The system has been simulated and their power quality parameter was tested for both PI and fuzzy logic controller using MatLab/Simulink software. The results were validated with practical prototype set-up.
