Abstract
We have devised a simple method for implementing electrostatic feedback with a LaCoste‐Romberg model G gravity meter. Earth tide observations made with this instrument in the feedback mode should be superior to those currently being made without feedback, because of the increased stability of the scale factor, improved calibration, and the elimination of instrumental lags due to spring hysteresis. Other possible applications of our technique include the determination of the short‐range periodic errors in the measuring screw‐lever system and improved accuracy in measuring small gravity differences.
