Abstract

Based on the Hermite–Gaussian formulation, it is shown that the complex ABCD optical systems which satisfy a certain condition can be used to realize complex-order Fourier transforms and fractional-order Fourier transforms in real ABCD optical systems are the special case of this framework. Two simple configurations of complex optical systems are analyzed and cascaded to implement complex-order Fourier transforms.
