Abstract

EEG signal needs to be analyzed for various medical purposes. As there may be noises and artifacts in EEG raw data, we need to denoise it and amplify the EEG signal for better analysis. We propose a new biochip for EEG signal amplification on multirate system. This system uses ALTERA Cyclone DE II field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development board for the proposed biochip implementation. This FPGA development board is interfaced with processors EP2C35F672C6 for designing the proposed bio-chip in real-time for the proper data accuracy. In this case, Modelsim is used for simulation of biochip design in Verilog HDL. The proposed biochip is designed on multirate system with support of up-sampler or interpolation, polyphase filter and down-sampler or decimation for amplifying the EEG signal. This biochip shows good enough electrical characteristics such as low voltage & current, enough memory storage spaces, less power and area.
