Abstract
This paper presents a switching mode power supply with zero voltage transition (ZVT) technique to achieve power factor correction based on a commercial available IC. To reduce the switching losses and obtain a high efficiency power supply, a ZVT-based boost converter is used in the front stage to obtain a high power factor. An asymmetrical half-bridge converter is used in the output side to obtain a stable DC voltage. The complete experimental results based on a laboratory prototype were shown in the paper.
