Abstract
The aim of the ASVIN program is to study the problems raised by the installation of a solar pump in a remote village and to try to prove that, in spite of these problems, this installation is necessary and possible. Necessary, because it appears to be, in some cases, the best, if not the only means to provide farmers with water for irrigation and drinking purposes, Possible, because farmers can easily appropriate so sophisticated (yet at the same time so easy to handle) a tool provided it rightly answers their demands. The installation has not gone without hindrances and delays (these are part of the work) but the first harvest has been a success. Yet a lot remains to be achieved.
