Abstract
Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are the most prevalent complication of childbirth; they can lead to a host of negative consequences for postpartum women and their newborns. Because these conditions are frequently overlooked, evidence-based practice supports the use of screening tools to identify women with PMAD. Implementation of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD–7) screening tool was used to increase identification of perinatal anxiety in postpartum women.
