Abstract

The implementation of a RFID system is discussed in this study, for the division of the offices and furniture of an Italian company that is a leader in the furniture industry. This system allowed for a type of electronic identity card to ensure the authenticity of products and their traceability. Through Business Process Re-Engineering (BPR) methods, the AS IS and TO BE scenarios obtained as a result of the proposed changes are analysed. In particular, two production phases are analysed in this work: the sewing and inventory. The differences between the AS IS and TO BE systems are analysed to highlight the improvement obtained using the RFID system. An analysis of the management and implementation costs of new scenarios is developed.
