Abstract

This paper proposes a flexible and extensible clinical data management system for cardiovascular disease. The proposed system achieves the goals to shorten the time of storing, managing and analyzing cardiovascular clinical data and mine the hidden information within the data. A networked three-hierarchy architecture, namely storage platform, middleware and client, is utilized in this application. The storage platform, which serves as the back-end, is responsible for storing cardiovascular clinical data and relationships between the data. The middleware aims to deal with application business logic and business validation, serving as a control center between the back-end and the front-end. The front-end client provides users with friendly and simple interfaces to conduct data storage, management and analysis. With high flexibility and extensibility, the proposed system is very helpful for clinicians and researchers in cardiovascular field to manage clinical data and conduct scientific research.
