Abstract

Stable magnetic field is crucial for the precision experiments conducted at the heavy ion storage rings. Besides the current stability of the power supply, the magnetic field is also influenced by varying ambient factors such as temperatures. This paper proposed a dual-loop hysteresis control method to passively change the output current of the power supply according to the magnetic field monitored by the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probes. As a result, the long-term relative changes of magnetic field were reduced from dB/B≈5.75× 10−5 to 2.3 × 10−5 within three days.
