Abstract

In this paper, the structure of indirect matrix converter (IMC) is presented and the space vector pulse width modulation method (SVPWM) is analyzed to apply for this converter. The advantage point of IMC is directly connected a load to a three-phase power source using six bidirectional switches and twelve unidirectional switches without using any intermediate energy storage element. IMC stands out with low input harmonic, while compact design. The main study idea is combining between an IMC and a dual two-level inverter for an open-end winding load to enhance the converter output quality as well as kept the IMCs advantage. The SVPWM is sequentially analyzed for rectifier and inverter stage to generate the switching pattern for the converter. Finally, experiment result is shown to demonstrate the reality of topology.
