Abstract
Localized mobility management is a grand challenge in Wireless Networking that aims to develop architecture for fast and efficient handover in an operator's network to maximize the performance of the mobility management as a whole. Currently, global mobility management is used to maintain localized mobility management whereas it is recognized [1] that a dedicated localized protocol is essential for efficient handover process. The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) proposed proxy mobile ipv6 (PMIPv6) is a very promising localized mobility protocol and theoretically found that using this protocol results a better performance than using global mobility protocol(MIPv6 for instance) for a operator’s domain. However PMIPv6 is not yet implemented in most of the recognized network simulator, although it is required to simulate any protocol before its actual deployment. In this paper, implementation architecture of PMIPv6 is developed which is based on Object Oriented Methodology, so that it can be used to implement in any particular platform. The proposed architecture was used to implement PMIPv6 in Network Simulator 2 (NS2).
