Abstract

AIM OF INVESTIGATION: Healthcare providers are committed ethically and morally to “do no harm” and treat patients using the least minimally invasive interventions possible. It is known that needle pain is one of the most dreaded portions of a hospital experience for children and a common source of pain. The aim of this evidence-based practice project was to implement and evaluate the use of subcutaneous (SQ) rehydration for mild to moderately dehydrated children with difficult intravenous access.
