Abstract

This study was conducted through three main phases of action research in Khoramroudi neighborhood in Tehran on the basis of Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) process. The exploratory phase was for designing the program. The monitoring and evaluation phase was done by quantitative and qualitative methods. Reflection phase was an exploration of the structure and process of the action research. On the basis of prevalence of inadequate physical activity and the most important barrier and facilitator of physical activity, three strategies were extracted (the use of peer mentors, increased awareness of available sports services and group-based cognitive behavioral therapy). The action research could improve physical activity among women on the basis of an adjusted MAPP process.
