Abstract

Science has provided today's restorative dentist with continually improving tools for the replacement of missing teeth, and providing esthetically pleasing outcomes for single missing anterior teeth is a highly predictable procedure in the hands of most clinicians. The predictability decreases substantially when significant bone and soft tissue also have been lost; however, even in this scenario, a competent interdisciplinary team generally can produce an acceptable result by using an implant or a fixed partial denture with an ovate pontic to replace the missing tooth.
