Abstract

The review considers the micromixing processes and the existing designs, applications, and advantages of impinging-jets micromixers and microreactors—modern devices for scaling-up of mixing processes and performing chemical reactions with high selectivity. Impinging-jets micromixers and microreactors were shown to be a promising tool for controlled synthesis of nanosized particles and one of hardware modifications of “soft” chemistry methods, which is performed either directly in the microreactor itself (at room temperature and atmospheric pressure), as in the synthesis of CoFe2O4 and LaPO4, or with subsequent thermal (including hydrothermal) treatment, as in the synthesis of BiFeO3, GdFeO3, and TiO2.
