Abstract

This study conducted a physical model test in order to investigate the behavior of overtopping flows in the rear side of a caisson breakwater with dissipating blocks. Overtopping flows falling down to the rear side of a breakwater impact on the rear slope directly affecting the slope stability. This study measured wave profile, front velocity and impinging distance of overtopping flows to examine flow behavior over the rear slope through varying wave conditions. Laboratory experiments generated monochromatic waves with intent to focus on parameterizing front velocity and impinging distance based on the wave conditions.
